The art auction has ended. Thank you to everyone who participated! Through your generosity, we sold 10 artworks and raised a total amount of PHP 565,000, of which PHP 310,000 will go to UPIS scholars as part of ALAB UPIS’ Legacy Project.

Kambal Gallery Hong Kong in partnership with the University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS), and ALAB UPIS (established by the UPIS Class of 1997) hosted an exclusive online charity art auction called Giving Hope from October 1-10, 2021 (extended to October 17) for the benefit of talented but economically disadvantaged UPIS scholars.

Over 30 highly accomplished and distinguished Filipino artists participated in this event include Cezar Arro, Nicole Asares, Jaime Raphael Atienza, Federico Elizalde, Eric Masangkay, Rishab Tibon and more.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the ALAB UPIS Scholarship Support Program

Kambal Gallery

Kambal Gallery is a Hong Kong-based gallery established by twin sisters Irene Bernarte Haagen and Anna Bernarte Pendry. The gallery aims to promote public art appreciation, discussion and engagement through events such as exhibits, workshops and collaborations.

  1. Who may bid? This auction is by invitation only by verified members of the Kambal Gallery Facebook group. The Facebook group administrator will contact you or a reference person for any bid placed.

  2. The artworks selection consists of voluntary donations by the artists on a 50 to 100% donation basis. Most of the artists selected have already exhibited under Kambal Gallery both in the Philippines and overseas, and are established in the art industry. Other artists’ works that adhere to the utmost quality and standard have also been selected. Your bids shall likewise be considered donations with part of the proceeds going directly to the charity beneficiary. Opening bids will be below the usual gallery price in Hong Kong.

  3. To bid, you may post directly as a comment under the respective item photo. You may also send a bid to any page administrator by private message. We will post the bid in the comments for you. Let us know if you wish to remain anonymous. Your name will be hidden using an assigned pseudonym or alias but your bids will be posted.  All bids are binding.

  4. The auction starts Friday, October 1 at 11 a.m. Philippine Standard Time (September 30, 11 p.m. New York; September 30, 8 p.m. Los Angeles; October 1, 4 a.m. London). Bidding starts anytime after the item is posted. The minimum increment is PHP 1000. The auction closes Sunday, October 10 at 12 noon Philippine Standard Time (October 10, 12 a.m. New York; October 9, 9 p.m. Los Angeles; October 10, 5 a.m. London). The highest bid as of 12 noon of October 10 Philippine Standard Time wins. All bids stamped 12:01 p.m. or later are no longer valid. Kambal Gallery will post the winning bid as soon as the end date and the time are reached.

  5. Bids below the opening bid may be submitted by private message and will only be entertained at the discretion of the Facebook page administrator, in coordination with the artist that donated the artwork.

  6. Winning bids will be officially declared by the Facebook page administrator. The winning bidder will be immediately advised by a direct Facebook messenger message details of where to send payment. Payment should be made within 2 weeks upon issuance of invoice. The bidder with the second highest bid will be declared the bid winner if payment is not received within the designated period. 

  7. Unless specified, the winning bidder pays for the cost of transport and shipping and applicable customs duties in their country of abode. For deliveries within Metro Manila area, we usually send the artwork using Lalamove or Grab. 

  8. Kambal Gallery will help facilitate delivery of artworks between the winning bidder and the artists using Hong Kong post, DHL or FEDEX or other reliable freight company. However, Kambal Gallery Hong Kong will not be responsible for loss or damage of artwork during delivery. We advise the winning bidder to apply for insurance to indemnify claims for loss and damages while the artwork is in transit.

  9. For provenance, Kambal Gallery will issue receipt and Certificate of Authenticity. Kindly keep both documents for your future reference.

  10. For reference purposes, the exchange rate used is HKD 1 = PHP 6.23 or 1 USD = PHP 51. However, the prevailing exchange rate shall apply on the date of issuance of invoice. The prevailing exchange rate of the day will be based on the buy rate of BPI HK. 

  11. A portion of the proceeds will go to the ALAB UPIS Scholarship Support Program.
