The UPIS Commemorative Marker at U.P. Town Center

The Handog UPIS Commemorative Marker is a sculptural piece in the form of a bench installed beneath the old UPIS acacia tree at the U.P. Town Center to mark the site of the former UPIS High School and Kindergarten to Grade 2 (K-2) grounds on Katipunan Avenue. It is inspired by the concrete UPIS benches where students often congregated.

Designed by Arch. Lianne Mirano Romero, with commemorative text written by Ana Leonor Cruz Reyes, both members of UPIS Batch 1997, it evokes the memory of many happy times spent on the site.

Many thanks to all UPIS alumni who chose to leave their legacy on the Handog Commemorative Marker!

“We support Batch ‘97’s project to build a UPIS commemorative marker at the former campus grounds,” says UPIS Principal Prof. Anthony Joseph Ocampo. “The marker is an exciting project that is bringing the community together to celebrate our shared history, and giving alumni an opportunity to give back to their alma mater. We are looking forward to its completion.”

Handog was inaugurated on September 24, 2022.
