My greatest learning from you is not the Pythagorean Theorem, but that we all are teachers in our own fields. From you I learned that there’s fun in learning and teaching. You taught me how to make complex things easier to digest and interesting for others. I shall carry this my whole life. And I shall continue to tell these stories, your stories.

Favorite teacher ko si Sir SJ. He made me love math again. He made geometry easy by explaining and relating it to everyday things. Sa kanya lang ako naka-perfect ng periodic test.

Sir SJ made us feel learning was fun. He had this smile that broke down walls between us. We always felt he was one who cared beyond the class, genuine concern about us. He truly embraced his calling in life to teach and lived a great life impacting one student at time.

Nahalungkat ko yung geometry notebook ko nung 7-Mars. Naiyak talaga ako. Kasi ang husay na teacher ni Sir SJ. Ang sarap matuto ng math kasi andaming kwento at relate sa buhay at shempre tawanan. Maraming salamat Sir SJ sa lahat ng naituro mo, at higit sa lahat, sa pagmulat mo sa amin kung paano i-problem solving ang ilang hamon ng buhay.

I hate math or maybe math hates me. Pero dahil magaling siya magturo and kitang kita na mahal na mahal niya ginagawa niya, mas naging madali maintindihan ang geometry. I did not expect that I will get an 80+ grade from him considering na I’m not one of the brightest. Dahil din sa kanya, hindi ako hirap magturo ng geom sa eldest ko.

Ang maiiwang ala-ala sa akin ni Sir SJ ay yung galing niya sa pagtuturo, sa pagpapaliwanag at kasipagan sa pagsusulat sa blackboard. Ang mga ngiti na kailanman ay hindi nawala sa kanyang labi. Ang pagiging masayahin niya sa loob at labas ng klase. Ang pagiging approachable niya. Ang hindi matatawarang dedikasyon niya sa pagtuturo.

Isa si Sir SJ sa mga teacher na naging idol at inspirasyon ko noong high school. Takot ako sa math at di ako kagalingan pero sa kanya ako natuto ng husto at sa Geom lang maayos grades ko. Ito yung bukod tanging math subject na looking forward ako pumasok kasi napakagaling niyang teacher at mahaba ang pasensya.
